Why we do it this way
Building shouldn’t feel like a gamble.
When people talk to us about a new home or a renovation, they’re rarely worried about the timber or the tiles. They’re worried about the price that keeps climbing, and the builder who stops turning up.
The quote looked fixed, then the “extras” started arriving and the finish date slid by a month, then three. We know that feeling from the other side: years ago in the UK, our director Richard worked for a builder who went under and never properly paid his crew. We decided we’d never run a business that way.
So we put our promises in writing. We call it the Built Right Promise.
- Your price doesn’t creep. If we give you a fixed price, that’s what you pay. Any change gets discussed, priced and approved by you before the work goes ahead. If we ever do work you didn’t approve, you don’t pay for it.
- We don’t disappear. You get direct access to your site manager, site walkthroughs at times we agree together, and regular updates. If you call, we call back.
- Honest timeframes. You get a clear start and finish date before we begin. We won’t give you an unrealistic deadline just to win the job, and if something outside our control shifts, you’ll hear it from us early.
- We own our mistakes. If something isn’t right and it’s on us, we fix it. No passing blame, no excuses.
- We’re still here after handover. As NZCB members we offer the Halo 10-Year Residential Guarantee on eligible projects, and if something comes up after you move in, we make it right.
